May 2025

Mainly a sunny, dry month so watering our plants was an essential chore.  Most of our vegetables were now planted out in the ground and all the polytunnel beds are now full.  Harvesting of baby spinach, kale and garlic started with many herb flowers collected for dehydrating.  Grass mowing and weeding is a constant job with the warm sunshine encouraging growth.

In the mandala our poppies look spectacular and many new flowers were planted.  A curved pathway was made around the bees and a collection of flowers which had started off in the polytunnel and now established, were planted along the route as an attraction for the bees.  This was also to provide a gentle barrier for the bees.

On one occasion we noticed a nearby tree touching one of our electricity lines generating sparks so an alert was made to the electricity company.  A few days later some large vans and a cherry picker arrived with a tree company to trim many trees to a safer height.

Stuart celebrated a birthday party with friends enjoying the opening of his festival dome and experiencing a musical ‘jam’ with various instruments inside.  A wet half term week followed with camping activities curtailed but a visit from family members were enjoyed.  Preparations are underway for the forthcoming Unearthed Festival in Pembrokeshire.
