As the Leaves Turn, A Month Of Harvest and Heart

September has wrapped Plas Y Maes in beauty once again. The land has been painted with soft golden light, breathtaking sunsets and sunrises, and the first hints of autumn’s colours beginning to emerge. The final blooms of summer still hold their ground, while the trees slowly transform into their rich autumn coats. On clear nights, the Milky Way has stretched across the sky in stunning clarity, the air cooling as winter’s breath quietly approaches. Around us, the wildlife has been busy, gathering, foraging, and preparing for the colder months ahead. Our resident tawny owls have been especially vocal this month, their calls echoing through the night, the soft flutter of their wings a familiar and comforting sound.

We began the month by welcoming Full Power Cacao to Iachusol Enaid (Healing Soul) for their Cacao Ceremony Training for Facilitators. It was deeply moving to witness Iachusol Enaid being used exactly as it was intended, as a place of growth, healing, and connection. The group filled the land with their energy, holding mindful walks through the valley and brave cold dips in the stream. On their final day, we were invited to take part in the Cacao Ceremony, led by the newly trained facilitators. It was a powerful and heart-warming experience, one that truly reflected the name Healing Soul. We wish every participant success as they continue to share cacao with others.

Later in the month, we were delighted to welcome The Soul Circle to the land. Their retreat was a beautiful celebration of the Autumn Equinox, honouring the turning of the seasons and the balance between light and dark. As they departed, they shared with us how renewed, grounded, and full of heart they felt.  Words that remind us how special this place truly is and how deeply it can nurture those who spend time here.

Looking ahead, our 2026 calendar is already filling with new retreats, all created with intention and aligned with our vision of:

“Connecting people to nature, to be able to better understand themselves.”

We’re humbled to see this vision continue to grow and invite you to visit our Events Page regularly.  You may find a retreat that speaks to you.

We also shared some exciting news this month, our range of organic clothing, hats, and other custom products is now available through our shop. These include our Iachusol Enaid (Healing Soul) line, created for those who have spent time here and wish to take a small reminder of their experience home. We’ll be adding more designs in the months ahead, including some featuring Heather Dawn’s artwork, pieces inspired by the natural forms and displayed in retreat field itself.

As September comes to a close and the Autumn Equinox passes, the rhythm of the land begins to slow. The oaks, which came into leaf before the ash this year, have stayed lush and green longer, their branches heavy with a bumper crop of acorns that now carpet the ground. Too many even for the squirrels and birds to gather, this abundance is nature’s way of ensuring renewal, a quiet act of resilience and hope for the seasons to come.

As the days shorten and we begin to settle into the cooler months, we are reminded to pause, to reflect on the harvest of our year, and to give thanks for what has grown and what has changed.

Wishing you all a peaceful and reflective autumn as we move gently toward winter.

Until next time,

From all of us at Plas Y Maes
